CSC M.O. Lawal’s Compliance Unit Wins Five Major Honors in Dominant Display of Excellence.
The Ogun I Area Command in Idiroko hosted its 2025 Annual Award Gala Night, a premier event dedicated to honoring exceptional performance within the Nigeria Customs Service. The ceremony highlighted remarkable operational successes, with the Compliance Team under Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) M.O. Lawal achieving a historic sweep by securing five distinct team awards.
DC Yusuf, Chairman of the Awards Committee, opened the evening by highlighting its significance. “We are here to celebrate the entire collective spirit of achievement,” he stated, affirming that the rigorous selection process maintained the highest standards of integrity. He described the recognized accomplishments as setting “the new benchmark” for the command.
CSC M.O. Lawal’s team demonstrated unparalleled effectiveness across key performance indicators, earning awards in the following categories:

· Highest Value of Seizures
· Highest Seizures of Foreign Vehicles
· Highest Seizures of Rice
· Single Highest Seizure by Duty Paid Value
Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, personally commended the high achievers. He praised the top awardee as “a transparent officer” and urged others to aim for similar recognition. “Learn to try. Next year, they should try. If they win, we will give them,” he advised, fostering a culture of healthy competition.
Looking ahead, DC Afeni shared an ambitious vision for the Idiroko Command, indicating that strategies are already in motion to enhance both enforcement and revenue generation in 2026.
